He sold lands in 1556. The Yorkshire Feet of Fines records that he sold "lands in Snydall" to Francis Woodruffe and his wife Elizabeth. Francis was his nephew. He sold lands in 1558. The Yorkshire Feet of Fines records that "Thomas Burdett, esq. sold Richard Marshall a Messuage with lands in Snydall in the parish of Normanton." He bought lsnds in 1565. The Yorkshire Feet of Fines records that "John Walton sold Thomas Burdett, gent. a Messuage with lands in Thurleston Mere." He died about 1571 in Birthwaite, Yorkshire. In 1159, William founded the Benedictine Alvecote Priory in Warwickshire to expiate the rash killing of his wife.
A steward had falsely accused her of infidelity during William's absence in the Holy Land during a Crusade. However, the steward had actually solicited the wife's affections in vain in his absence. It was said that William was a valiant and devout man and the Knight, believing the slander, had stabbed her. The Priory is now in ruins but when the Priory Church was still standing the founder's grave was in an arch of the wall on the North side covered by a plain free stone curiously embossed with the sculpture of a large cross. In 1881 Andrew was still unmarried and lived at home with his parents. A report in the Barnsley Chronicle records that on 19th July 1884 Mary Hanwell, landlady of the New Inn, Denby was charged with permitting gambling in her house on 7th July. It was alleged that her son-in-law, George Thomas Peace had brought in some dice on the Monday morning of Denby Feast and that he, Andrew Burdett and Frank Newsome began playing with the dice for cigarettes and beer. Apparently Andrew won and Frank Newsome paid for the drink. They also played a game with a newspaper numbered 1 to 6 and some washers out of ginger beer bottles. The Bench found the case proved and fined Mary Hanwell 20s and costs. He died of pneumonia on 5 Nov 1889 in Stoney Lane, Taylor Hill, Almondbury, Yorkshire. He was buried on 9 Nov 1889 in St. John the Evangelist Church, Denby, Yorkshire. Parents: John BURDETT and Ann HORN.
