Marjorie was the sister of the wife of Frank's brother, George. Fred SUTTON. Parents: John SUTTON and Mary DERBYSHIRE. Gladys May (May) SUTTON was born about 1893 in Manchester, Lancashire. Her parents were Walter and Mary Sutton. The Sutton Family Walter Percy Sutton had been born in 1863 in Liverpool and his parents were Thomas George Sutton (b.1834 Leek, Staffordshire) and Emily Kate Gingell (b.1833 Bath, Somerset; daughter of Edward Gingell; granddaughter of William Gingell (1767), whose family printed the Family Bible in Bath. A few years ago the Bible was donated to the Gingell family in Malta where the family name has continues unbroken since 1811). Emily's sister, Harriet Kate Gingell, married James Sutton (brother to Thomas). Thomas had worked his way up from assistant chemist to his uncle William in Rolfe Street, Smethwick, Staffordshire in 1851 to chemist in his own right by 1861 at 23 Prescot Street, Liverpool. By 1861 he and Emily employed a female servant and had three children; Susan Keates (b.1856 Tranmere, Cheshire), William Edward Gingell (b.1859 Liverpool) and Alice Maud (b.1860 Liverpool). By 1871 Thomas lived with his family at 28 Gleasle Street, Liverpool and was listed as a chemist and dentist. He and Emily had three more children (all born in Liverpool) Walter Percy (1863), Frank Percival (1868) and Arthur Wellesley (1870). Arthur died at the age of 4 in 1874. Susan married Arthur Edwards Povey (a dental surgeon) in 1877 and they lived locally and raised a family of six children in Norwood Grove. By 1881 Thomas and Emily lived at 66 Brunswick Road, Liverpool with William (a clerk in the corn trade), Alice Maud, Walter (assistant tailor) and Frank. Walter married Mary Campbell Ward in 1882 and they had five children; Ethel (1883 Liverpool), Lillian (1884 Liverpool aka Lilly), Claude (1891 York), Gladys May (1893 Manchester aka May) and Dudley (1897 Flixton). In 1901 Walter and Mary lived at with their children Ethel, Lillian, Claud, May and Dudley at Gales Brow, Flixton, Manchester. Walter was a master tailor and an employer. Another daughter, Doris Margery aka Marjorie was born in 1904. The sisters Ethel, Lilly, May and Marjorie had a reputation for being lively and fun girls and were knnown collectively as "The Sutton Girls". Marjorie married George (1886) Burdett's brother, Frank. She died on 15 May 1975 in the Isle of Man. Spouse: George BURDETT. George BURDETT and Gladys May (May) SUTTON were married about 1914 in Stockport, Cheshire. Children were: Joan BURDETT, Brian BURDETT, Margaret (Peggy) BURDETT. Herbert SUTTON was born about 1879 in Heaton Norris, Cheshire. In 1901 he was a Piecer in a Cotton Mill in Stockport, Cheshire.
