John Robinson was christened in St. Michael's Church, Limerick on 8 March 1813 and he married Johanna Curtain, a Roman Catholic, in 1836. He was a policeman in the County Limerick Police. John and Johanna had nine children. John died on 7 November 1854 in Doon, Limerick. |

Her sons John C. and George Alexander Robinson had already left home when, on 22 July 1865, Johanna emigrated to Auckland, New Zealand with five of her children. Her eldest son, John C. Robinson had previously gone to America and had settled in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania where he had married his wife, Johanna, in 1864. George Alexander had joined the police force like his father before joining the British Army on 1 October 1859. In New Zealand Johanna's children grew up and married. David was said to have emigrated from New Zealand to Boston, USA |
