7. George WEEKS
was born about 1830 in Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight. He was christened
on 1 Jan 1831 in Whippingham, Isle of Wight. In 1851 he was a Clerk
to a Corn and General Merchant in Newport, Isle of Wight. In 1861
he was a Merchant's Clerk in Lambeth, Surrey. In 1871 he was an East
India and China Merchant's Clerk in Brixton, Lambeth, London. Between
1881 and 1891 he was a Miller employing 4 men and 1 boy in Calbourne Mill, Isle
of Wight. He died about 1898 in Calbourne, Isle of Wight.
On 23 March 1878, J. A. Long sold the Mill at Calbourne to George who was described
as an Accountant of Brixton Rise, London. He came from a family of Millers and
this purchase signalled his return to the trade. He also bought the Mills at
Southford, Ford and Towngate, Newport.
In March 2000 the Mill was sold to the Chaucer family.
George WEEKS and Elizabeth
SPANNER were married about 1857 in St Mary's Church, Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight.
They lived in 52 Clapham Road, Lambeth, Surrey in 1861. They lived
in 5 Hayter Road, Brixton, Lambeth, London in 1871. Elizabeth
SPANNER was born about 1832 in Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight. George
WEEKS and Elizabeth SPANNER had the following children:
