8. Photo Flora White TANNER was christened on 2 May 1813 in Ringwood, Hampshire. She was born about 1813 in Picket Post, Hampshire. She emigrated on 5 Feb 1854 from Burley to Australia. The family travelled on the ship "America" and landed in Geelong on 4th May 1854. Thomas and Flora had seven children and they probably lowered their ages to save on shipping fees or to qualify for immigration. The children were listed as Emily (17), Mary (16), Helen (14), Arabella Maria (11), Alice Elizabeth (9), Austin (5) and Sidney Harry (2). She died of Renal Cirrhosis and apoplexy (24 days) on 4 Nov 1897 in Raglan, Victoria, Australia. She was buried on 7 Nov 1897 in Linton Cemetery, Carngham, Victoria, Australia. Flora White Tanner and her husband Thomas and their family went to Australia. They were the guardians of Elizabeth Tanner (b1851) .

Flora White TANNER and Thomas BROMFIELD were married on 5 Jan 1836 in Ringwood, Hampshire. They lived in Burley Beacons, Burley, Hampshire in 1851. In 1851, Thomas and Flora lived very close to her parents Moses and Lydia. Photo Thomas BROMFIELD was born about 1813 in Burley, Hampshire. His surname is sometimes recorded as Brumfield. His parents were Harry Bromfield and Mary Beaminster. In 1851 he was a Forest Labourer in Burley Beacons, Burley, Hampshire. According to the 1851 Census Enumerator for the Burley district of Hampshire: "The Forest Labourers in this district are principally, if not wholly, occupied in cutting turf, peat and furze in the New Forest, it being the principal fuelling used by the farmer and the labouring population in the neighburhood of this extensive forest, there being being no fee or charge beyond the labour and carriage the latter of which is generally performed by the farmers free of all expense to those labourers employed by themselves." Between 1860 and 1897 he was in Prince of Wales Hotel, Snake Valley, Carngham, Victoria, Australia. He died of Valvular Disease of the heart and debility (18 months) on 29 Nov 1886 in Prince of Wales Hotel, Snake Valley, Carngham, Victoria, Australia. He was buried on 1 Dec 1886 in Linton Cemetery, Carngham, Victoria, Australia. Flora White TANNER and Thomas BROMFIELD had the following children:

Arabella Maria BROMFIELD was born on 9 Feb 1843 in Burley, Hampshire. She was christened on 19 Feb 1843 in Burley, Hampshire. The Church of St John the Baptist was built in 1839 at the cost of £1000 and consecrated by the Bishop of Winchester on 14th March 1839. Burley was then constituted an ecclesiastical Parish, so no longer was it necessary to tramp the long miles to Bransgore or Ringwood to be christened or buried.
