After their marriage they moved to Lyndhurst where Robert was a Brewer's Labourer. In 1851 he was a Labourer in Lyndhurst, Hampshire. In 1855 he was a Brewer's Labourer in Lyndhurst, Hampshire. In 1861 he was a Maltster and Brewer in Lyndhurst, Hampshire. At this time he was a widower. He lived in Gosport Lane, Lyndhurst, Hampshire in 1861. He was buried about 1863 in Lyndhurst Baptist Church, Lyndhurst Hampshire. He died of Pthisis (12 months certified) on 3 Oct 1863 in Lyndhurst, Hampshire.

Robert Charles TANNER and Harriet SCAMMELL were married on 6 May 1839 in Ringwood, Hampshire. They lived in Beast Pound, Lyndhurst, Hampshire in 1851. Harriet SCAMMELL (daughter of William SCAMMELL and Hannah BREWER) was christened on 17 Feb 1818 in Ringwood, Hampshire. She was born about 1818 in Burley, Hampshire. She died of Consumption (6 months) on 24 Jul 1855 in Lyndhurst, Hampshire. Robert Charles TANNER and Harriet SCAMMELL had the following children:

In 1851, Charles lived with his grandparents Moses and Lydia Tanner in Burley.
28	ii.	Henry (Harry) TANNER was born about 1842 in Lyndhurst, Hampshire. In 1863 he was a Farm Labourer in Lyndhurst, Hampshire. He died of Pthisis Pulmonalis (2 years certified) on 6 Dec 1863 in Lyndhurst, Hampshire.
29	iii.	Helen TANNER was born about 1845 in Lyndhurst, Hampshire. In 1865 she was a Housemaid in Lyndhurst, Hampshire. She was buried about 1865 in Burley, Hampshire. She died of Pthisis Pulmonalis (12 months certified) on 23 Aug 1865 in Pikes Hill, Lyndhurst, Hampshire.
30	iv.	George TANNER was born on 8 Apr 1846 in Lyndhurst, Hampshire. In 1861 he was a Labourer in Lyndhurst, Hampshire. He may have gone to America.
31	v.	Lavinia (Levina) TANNER was born about 1850 in Lyndhurst, Hampshire. She died of Scarlatina Malyina (5 days certified) on 22 Sep 1854 in Lyndhurst, Hampshire. This is scarlet fever.
