After their marriage they moved to Lyndhurst where Robert was a Brewer's Labourer. In 1851 he was a Labourer in Lyndhurst, Hampshire. In 1855 he was a Brewer's Labourer in Lyndhurst, Hampshire. In 1861 he was a Maltster and Brewer in Lyndhurst, Hampshire. At this time he was a widower. He lived in Gosport Lane, Lyndhurst, Hampshire in 1861. He was buried about 1863 in Lyndhurst Baptist Church, Lyndhurst Hampshire. He died of Pthisis (12 months certified) on 3 Oct 1863 in Lyndhurst, Hampshire.

Robert Charles TANNER and Harriet SCAMMELL were married on 6 May 1839 in Ringwood, Hampshire. They lived in Beast Pound, Lyndhurst, Hampshire in 1851.
