2. William SIMS was baptized on 25 May 1723 in Hursley, Hampshire. He was born about 1723 in Hursley, Hampshire. He died on 30 Aug 1794 in Burley, Hampshire. Blake's Bargain was shared equally by his sons William and John. He signed a will. The will describes him as "Yeoman Farmer". The headstone of his grave in the churchyard of St. Peter and St. Paul in Ringwood reads: "To the Memory of William Sims Snr who died 30th August 1794 aged 72 also of Mary his wife who departed this life 23rd May 1814 aged 87 years."
William SIMS and Mary GODDEN were married on 15 Apr 1745
in St. Peter and St. Paul's Church, Ringwood, Hampshire. William
Sims probably received Storm Bushes via his wife Mary Godden. After 1784, when
the Godden family died out it became known as Sims Mead and was recorded as suvh
on the tithe map of 1848. It stayed in the Sims family until the end of the 19th
Century. William had two properties. Storm Bushes "seven acres more or less"
and Blake's Bargain. Mary GODDEN (daughter of Henry
GODDEN and Jone PROLE) was born about 1727 in Burley, Hampshire.
She died on 23 May 1814 in Burley, Hampshire. William SIMS and Mary
GODDEN had the following children:
