1. Joseph SILVERWOOD was born about 1774 in Syke House, Penistone, Yorkshire. Joseph's father was Josa Silverwood. He was christened on 25 Dec 1774 in St. John's Church, Penistone, Yorkshire. He lived in Hoylandswaine, Yorkshire between 1798 and 1827. Joseph was probably the first tenant on land owned by William Rich. William bought the land in 1821 and built a dwelling house and outbuildings on it. The land was occupied as a sheepwalk. The 1818 Enclosure Award and 1847 Tithe Award maps identify its position. Between 1841 and 1858 he was a Farmer of 20 acres with 238 acres of Heath in Mauk Royd Head, Upper Midhope, Hoylandswaine, Yorkshire. He was buried in Mar 1858 in St. John's Church, Penistone, Yorkshire. He died of paralysis and old age on 16 Mar 1858 in Upper Midhope, Hoylandswaine, Yorkshire. Joseph and his wife adopted their grandson Benjamin after the death of their daughter-in-law Martha Silverwood. Hannah and Martha were also second cousins.

She lived in Bradfield, Yorkshire in 1861. In 1861, Hannah lived
with her son Asa and his family. She was buried in Nov 1863 in St. John's Church,
Penistone, Yorkshire. She died of old age on 23 Nov 1863 in Bump
Hall, Hoylandswaine, Yorkshire. At the time of her death Hannah was
living with her son Timothy and his family. Joseph SILVERWOOD and Hannah WALSHAW
