55. Jacob SILVERWOOD was born about 1854 in Midhope, Yorkshire. He lived in 38 William Street, Swinton, Yorkshire in 1881. In 1881 he was a Railway Shunter in Swinton, Yorkshire. Jacob was one of the two boarders (b. Midhope) living with Thomas Woodward (railway signalman) and family. In 1891 he was a Shunter LMS Ralilway in Mexborough, Yorkshire. He lived in White Lea Grove, Swinton, Yorkshire in 1901. Jacob and Cranidge lived alone. Jacob was enumerated as being born in Bradfield and married. He was a widower. In 1901 he was a Railway Guard in Swinton, Yorkshire.

Jacob SILVERWOOD and Alice Sophia CRANIDGE were married about 1890 in Althorpe, Lincolnshire. They lived in Park Villa, Park Road, Mexborough, Yorkshire in 1891. Jacob and Alice lived alone. Alice Sophia CRANIDGE was born in 1864 in Althorpe, Lincolnshire. She was the daughter of William John Cranidge (b.5 November 1825-1905 Crowle, Lincolnshire) and Sophia Dixon (b.1824 South Kelsey. Lincolnshire). William and Sophia had married in 1851. This was William's second marriage. In 1846 he had married Mary Belton and they had had three sons (William 1846, Enoch 1848 and Jonathan 1849). William and Sophia had six children (John William 1852, Mary Ann Charlotte 1854, Harriet Jane 1856, Jonathan Margrave 1858, Moses William 1861 and Alice Sophia 1864). In 1871 William and Sophia lived with their children (Harriet 1856; Jonathan Margrave 1857; Moses William 1861 and Alice Sophia) in Althorpe where the children had all been born. William was a tailor. By 1881 Alice was still at home with her parents but they lived at the post office in Althorpe as William was a tailor as well as the post master and parish clerk. After Alice's marriage her parents still lived in Althorpe and her father continued to work as the post master. She died about 1899 in Swinton, Yorkshire. Jacob SILVERWOOD and Alice Sophia CRANIDGE had the following children:
