10. Charles OWERS was born on 30 May 1838 in Black Notley, Essex. He was christened on 23 Sep 1838 in Black Notley, Essex. In 1851 he was an Errand Boy in Black Notley, Essex. He lived in Manor House, Bradenham, Buckinghamshire in 1861. In 1861 he was a Coachman and classified as a servant in Bradenham, Buckinghamshire. Charles was one of three outdoor servants in John Graves' household (there were also six indoor servants). John Graves was a Clerk Without Cure Of Souls.

The Rent Roll of Bradenham Manor between Michaelmas 1862 and Michaelmas 1868 shows rent being paid by Charles for a cottage and garden. He paid a gross half-yearly rent of £2 on the cottage and garden initially, which seems to have been waived by Lady Day 1864, as from then on his name appears in the Roll but without any payment next to it.

The final entry in the Roll is for Lady Day 1869 and it reads 'late Owers' next to the entry for the cottage and garden. It is at this time that he moved to another area. His name had a variable surname and he is recorded as Owen, Owens, Ower and Owers. In 1871 he was an Omnibus Driver in Wood Green, Middlesex. In 1881 he was a Coachman in Wood Green, Middlesex. He lived in 81 Hereford Road, Paddington, London in 1891. In 1891 Charles was a widower and a lodger or "visitor" at a lodging house run by Mrs Ray. In 1891 he was a Coachman in Paddington, London. In 1901 he was a Retired Coachman in Wood Green, Middlesex. He lived in 382 High Road, Tottenham, London in 1901.

Charles OWERS and Maria HOLDERNESS were married on 7 Jul 1861 in St James' Church, Westminster, London. They lived in Risley's Yard, Edmonton, London in 1871. They lived in 9 Fishmongers Place, Southgate Road, Wood Green, London in 1881. Maria HOLDERNESS was born about 1830 in Westminster, London. Between 1851 and 1861 she was a Laundress in Westminster, London. She lived in 14 Meards Court, Westminster, London in 1851. In 1851, Maria appears on the Census as Mary and her widowed mother is called Mary (b1791, Colnbrook, Buckinghamshire), a Laundress. It would appear that Maria was actually the daughter of William Holderness and Elizabeth/Mary. Also at the same address is a "lodger" who may have been Maria's brother Frederick Holderness (b1831, Westminster) a Journeyman Pianoforte Maker. There is also a discrepancy in Maria's date of birth which is given as 1824. She lived in 42 Princes Street, Westminster, London in 1861. In 1861, Maria lived with her widowed mother Elizabeth (b1791, Colnbrook, Buckinghamshire), a Laundress. It is unclear why her mother's name has changed. In 1881 she was a Laundress in Wood Green, Middlesex. She died about 1885 in Wood Green, Essex. Charles OWERS and Maria HOLDERNESS had the following children:
