James
OWERS and Mary Ann RUSSELL were married on 17 Jun 1849 in Black Notley, Essex.
They lived in Witham Road, Black Notley, Essex in 1851. Mary
Ann RUSSELL (daughter of William RUSSELL and Ann UNKNOWN) was christened
on 23 Apr 1826 in Black Notley, Essex. She was born about 1826 in
Black Notley, Essex. Between 1841 and 1851 she was a Silk Throwster
in Black Notley, Essex. In 1861 she was a Silk Winder in Black Notley,
Essex. She lived in Black Notley, Essex in 1870. On 14th
November 1870, Mary Ann was still resident in Black Notley as she was the informant
of her mother-in-law's death and her residence is recorded on the Death Certificate.
After her husband's death did Mary Ann and her children go to live with her mother-in-law
(or vice versa) in Baker's Lane, Black Notley? It would seem likely as probably
she would have had to vacate her tied cottage when James died and then would
have had similar problems on Sarah's death. She lived in the Union Workhouse,
Bocking, Essex in 1871. She was in the workhouse at this time together
with Clara, Alice, George, Annie and baby William Henry. She was classed as a
widow. In 1881 she was a Crape Weaver in Braintree, Essex. She died
about 1900 in Braintree, Essex. James OWERS and Mary Ann RUSSELL
