23. Amelia (Milly)
HEPPLESTONE was born about 1845 in Hoylandswaine, Yorkshire.
In 1861 she was a Servant in Hoylandswaine, Yorkshire. In 1871 she
was a carer for an old woman (her mother) in Hoylandswaine, Yorkshire.
She lived in 1 Court 11 Shambles Street, Barnsley, Yorkshire in 1881.
This was a house of multiple occupancy. Also living with Amelia was her daughter
Clara Galloway (b1869, Hoylandswaine) and her stepson Frederick Hope (b1861,
Barnsley), a Grocer's Assistant. Frederick's mother Mary had married John Galloway
in 1871. She had 5 children and was a widow. In 1871, Mary and her family lived
at the same address that Amelia was living in 1881. Unfortunately Mary died in
1872 leaving John with all his stepchildren. Amelia's mother died in 1872 and
she then had another daughter. There were probably difficulties with housing.
Within two years John had married Amelia and their two families combined. In
1881, John Audin, Amelia's eldest brother, was also lodging at the same address.
She died of morbus cordis and paralysis (7 days) on 3 Oct 1884 in 3 Old Town,
Barnsley, Yorkshire. Morbus cordis means no more than heart disease.
Probably used by doctors when they didn't know the exact cause of death but were
sure it was natural causes. Presumably that is why the doctor has put a question
mark after morbus cordis on the Death Certificate.
