4. Mary DERBYSHIRE was born about 1790 in Marple, Cheshire. She was buried on 13 Jan 1847 in All Saints Church, Marple, Cheshire. She died about 1847 in Marple, Cheshire.

Mary DERBYSHIRE and Thomas VERNON were married before 1820 in Marple, Cheshire. They lived in Canal Buildings, Marple, Cheshire in 1841. Jane and George Derbyshire (children of John Derbyshire and Mary Pearson) lived with the Vernons. They were Mary's nephew and niece. Thomas VERNON was born about 1791 in Marple, Cheshire. Between 1841 and 1851 he was a Boatman in Marple, Cheshire. In 1851 John Derbyshire (b1834, Marple, son of Ralph) lived with Thomas and Bridget and was classed as a relative. He was Thomas' first wife's greatnephew. He signed a will on 11 Mar 1855 in Marple, Cheshire. His will stated that he was a coal dealer and that, after the funeral expenses and debts had been paid, his wife Bridget was to receive the household furniture, beds, bedding, plate, linen and china that "she was possessed of" and which belonged to her at the time of her marriage to Thomas plus "all my interest which I have in the Cooperative Society Stores in Marple".
To his son William's wife (Jane Vernon nee Derbyshire) he left a chest of drawers, corner cupboard and snap table. The other furniture and personal estate was left to his son William (a boat man) and Joseph Dean (of Stockport; Thomas' friend) who were to be executors. Everything was to be auctioned and the money was to be divided into five equal parts. Four of the parts were bequeathed to his four children (William, Thomas, Samuel and Sarah) and the fifth part was to go to his granddaughter Hannah Sheppard when she became 21.
He also stipulated that he wished his son William to take up the running of the coal business and that he should take up the "coal wharf stock of coal, fixtures and utensils belonging thereto situate in Marple". The will was proved on 17 November 1865. He lived in Canal Buildings, Marple, Cheshire in 1861. He was a widower and he had a housekeeper. In 1861 he was a Coal Dealer in Marple, Cheshire. He died on 18 Oct 1865 in Marple, Cheshire. He was buried on 21 Oct 1865 in All Saints Church, Marple, Cheshire. Mary DERBYSHIRE and Thomas VERNON had the following children:
