were married in Jun 1872 in Stockport, Cheshire. Esther had previously
been married to Job Bunting (b1822, Matlock, Derbyshire). He was a Maker-Up of
Cotton Yarn and they lived in Brick Row in 1861 with their daughter Mary (b1848,
Marple). Esther BUNTING was born about 1828 in Marple,
Cheshire. In 1861 she was a Throstle Cotton Spinner in Marple, Cheshire.
She lived in Brick Row, Marple, Cheshire in 1871. In 1871 Esther
was a widow. In 1871 she was a Cotton Operative in Marple, Cheshire.
She lived in Hill Top Terrace, Stockport Road, Marple, Cheshire between 1895
and 1901. In 1901 she lived with her daughter, Mary Raine, an Elementary
School Teacher, and her grandson, John Vernon Raine, a Railway Clerk and her
two granddaughters Hilda and Gladys (b.1894, Marple). The Raine Family
In 1881 Esther's married daughter Mary Raine (b.1848), a school mistress and
her son John Vernon Raine (b.1880 Salford, Lancashire) and a nephew John T. Berry
(b.1870 Idle, Yorkshire) lived with them. Mary had married John Pearson Raine
in Marple in 1875. John Pearson Raine had been born in Sherbourne in Yorkshire
in 1851 and his parents John and Faith Raine were Grocers and Drapers. They were
to have four more children; Richard Frederick (b.1854 Salford), Annie M. (b.1857
Salford), Susan J. (b.1862 Salford) and Lilly Wilson (b.1865 Slingsbly, Yorkshire).
In 1861 John Pearson and his brother Richard were pupils at Longfield Lodge,
Manchester Road, Barton Upon Irwell. In 1871 John Pearson was one of four Assistant
Drapers for the Draper Henry Bratt (who also employed two Apprentices) at Wilton
Street, Wilton, Cheshire. Although John Pearson Raine was married with a son
in 1881 he lived with his father, a Shroud and Frilling Manufacturer, at 195
Eccles New Road, Salford and worked as a Draper's Assistant. In 1891 John Pearson
Raine and Mary lived with their daughter Hilda (b.1887 Salford) at Hill Top Terrace,
Marple. John Pearson Raine was a Shroud Maker. Their son John Vernon continued
to live with his grandparents William and Esther in Queen Street.
She died about 1906 in Marple, Cheshire.
