14. Delariver BURDETT was born about 1723 in Denby, Yorkshire. He was christened on 1 Jan 1724 in St. John's Church, Denby, Yorkshire. Between 1754 and 1800 he was a Farmer in Denby, Yorkshire. He lived in Dry Hill, Denby, Yorkshire between 1797 and 1799. When Mary and Samuel, two of his grandchildren, were christened Dalariver was given as being of "Dry Hill". He was buried on 16 May 1800 in St. John's Church, Denby, Yorkshire. He died about 1800 in Denby, Yorkshire.

Delariver BURDETT and Mary GAUNT were married on 7 May 1754 in St. John's Church, Penistone, Yorkshire. They married by special licence and the witnesses were John Taylor and Mathew Hardy. Mathew Hardy also witnessed other marriages. "Delariver Burdett of this Parish and Mary Gaunt of this Parish were married in this Church by Licence granted by Mr. Thomas Bright this seventh day of May in the year of One thousand Seven hundred and Fifty-Four by me Fran. Hague." Mary GAUNT was christened on 24 Mar 1727 in St. John's Church, Denby, Yorkshire. She was born about 1727 in Gunthwaite, Yorkshire. Mary's father William Gaunt (b.1697 Denby,Yorkshire; aka William of Gunthwaite Gate; d.1758) had married Tamar Marsh (1698-1751) on 14 May 1722 in Silkstone. They had at nine children:- William (1723; dry salter; m. Betty; seven children), Joshua (1724-1766), Joseph (1726 aka Joseph of Epworth), Mary (1727), Robert (1730), Thomas (1731), John (1734), Sarah (1736) and Bridget (1739). She died about 1769 in Denby, Yorkshire. She was buried on 29 Aug 1769 in St. John's Church, Denby, Yorkshire. Mary probably died soon after childbirth as she was buried seven days after her baby daughter Sarah. Delariver BURDETT and Mary GAUNT had the following children:

Jonathan BURDETT was born about 1754 in Denby, Yorkshire. He was christened on 3 Nov 1754 in St. John's Church, Denby, Yorkshire.

Thomas BURDETT was born on 13 May 1759 in Denby, Yorkshire. He was buried on 4 Mar 1766 in St. John's Church, Denby, Yorkshire. The IGI records that Thomas (born 1759) died on 4 March 1766 but the descendants of a Thomas Burdett disputed this. However, the Bishops' Transcripts for Penistone shows "Tho: Sn: of Dally Rr: Burdett March 4" and although the print-out is almost blacked out, the other entries on the page are adult burials and, as another print-out from the BTs shows Thomas' christening, this is a record of his burial; so Thomas Burdett did not have any descendants. This has been a difficulty, solved by the research of another Burdett descendant. He died about 1766 in Denby, Yorkshire.

Ann was pregnant with Dally River and Mary Gaunt was also pregnant. Delariver had to choose who to marry. He chose Mary. Ann called her son Burdett Hawcroft and there was animosity between the two.
