BURDETT was christened on 20 Mar 1692 in St. John's Church, Penistone,
Yorkshire. He was born about 1692 in Denby, Yorkshire.
In 1720 he was a Farmer/Clothier in Denby, Yorkshire. He died about
1725 in Denby, Yorkshire. Matthew Burdett died at the age of 33.
He left a widow and two children under the age of two. They lived at Nether Denby
(now Lower Denby) and his probate inventory shows that he had a pair of looms,
a pair of combs and a warping wough "with all other things belonging
to his trade" in his workshop. A piece of kersey cloth and a piece of
plain cloth were ready for the cloth hall and his farm stock included cattle,
sheep, corn and hay.
On her father-in-law's death in 1732 Mary received 12d and her son Amos was to
receive £5 when he reached the age of 21.
Matthew BURDETT and Mary NEWTON were married on 23 May 1720 in Silkstone Church,
Silkstone, Yorkshire. Mary and Matthew Burdet were second cousins.
