8. Matthew BURDETT was christened on 20 Mar 1692 in St. John's Church, Penistone, Yorkshire. He was born about 1692 in Denby, Yorkshire. In 1720 he was a Farmer/Clothier in Denby, Yorkshire. He died about 1725 in Denby, Yorkshire. Matthew Burdett died at the age of 33. He left a widow and two children under the age of two. They lived at Nether Denby (now Lower Denby) and his probate inventory shows that he had a pair of looms, a pair of combs and a warping wough "with all other things belonging to his trade" in his workshop. A piece of kersey cloth and a piece of plain cloth were ready for the cloth hall and his farm stock included cattle, sheep, corn and hay.
On her father-in-law's death in 1732 Mary received 12d and her son Amos was to receive £5 when he reached the age of 21.

Matthew BURDETT and Mary NEWTON were married on 23 May 1720 in Silkstone Church, Silkstone, Yorkshire. Mary and Matthew Burdet were second cousins. Matthew BURDETT and Mary NEWTON had the following children:
