On 27 July 1611 is recorded "Bond in £24 by Matthew Burdet of Denby, gent, son and heir of Nicholas Burdet late of Swawell, gent, deceased to George Burdet of Denby Hall, gent, son and heir apparent of Richard Burdet of Denby Hall, esq., for the performance of certain covenants etc. as described arising from the bargain and sale described below." This sale was of messuages and lands in the inheritance of Robert Clayton and Ralph Bevett in Denby with an annual rent of 16s. He died about 1632.

COLTHURST was born about 1572. She died about 1616.
In 1600, as recorded in Paver’s Marriage Licenses, Mathew Burdet married
Dorothy Colthurst of Howley Hall, Batley. Dorothy was the daughter of Edmund
Colthurst of Hinton Priory and Eleanor Delariver (one of four illegitimate daughters
of Thomas Delariver of Brandsby near Castle Howard). Matthew BURDET and Dorothy
COLTHURST had the following children:
