24. Nicholas BURDET was born about 1448 in Denby, Yorkshire. He died about 1508 in Denby, Yorkshire. On 8 October 1453 a bond was signed. Nicholas Burdet bound to Robert Rich in £10 within half a year after the death of Aymer Burdet, Nicholas' father, to render to Robert all things Nicholas could demand of Robert for lands and tenements in Bullhouse (near Penistone, Yorkshire) held by homage and a rent of 4d. A confirmation of the bond was signed on 4 October 1486. This land dealing was to be significant as the the Burdet and Rich families were to intermarry later (Aymer Rich married Alice Budet in 1587) and the land around Bullhouse was to be important well into the 19th and 20th centuries as a place for non-conformist worship and indelibly linked to the Rich family. On 6 February 1486, Richard made a grant with warrant to his son and heir apparent that after his death Richard would inherit Denby, Ingbirchworth, Smallshane, Bilcliffe, Barnby, Barnsley, Mapplewell, Darton, Kexborough, Hoyland, Bretton, Clayton, Skelmanthorpe, Cumberworth and Bagden.
