He owned a freehold cottage in 1829 in Church Street, Saffron Walden, Essex. In 1829 he was an Innkeeper in Saffron Walden, Essex. He died on 14 Sep 1829 in Saffron Walden, Essex.

BURDETT and Eliza TANNER were married before 1822. After John's death
in 1829 she married Joseph Scruby. Eliza TANNER was
a joint executrix of her father-in-law's will (Godfrey Burdett b.1766) in 1836
in Saffron Walden, Essex. She was made equal executrix of her father
in law's will and it said in the will, that if her children died before the age
of 21 without leaving issue, she was to receive what they were left. Godfrey
even made a codicil to his will, after she had married Joseph Scruby, to say
she was still entitled to half of his will, if her children did not leave heirs
and died before they reached 21.
